Statement from Executive Director on Election

Yesterday I spent time reflecting on the most historic and heart-breaking election of our time. We shared big hopes of electing our first woman president, taking back the Colorado State Senate and watching our state push towards parity.

We are incredibly proud that 7 out of 8 of our candidates won Tuesday night (that’s almost a 90% win rate- click here to read more). The work we’ve done continues to pay off in BIG WAYS right here in our Blue State, and Emerge Colorado is honored to prepare and support democratic women to do this work. Our wins locally join with those across the country which include raising the count of women in the US Senate from 1 to 4.

As you know, we still face many setbacks. With Donald Trump in the White House our city councils, school boards and state legislature are where real change will happen. This is why our work recruiting, training and empowering women to run for office is more important than ever. We know that when women are elected, they pass more progressive legislation that benefits all of us – but unlike Donald Trump, women don’t just wake up and decide to run for office.

Make a donation today to ensure that we can organize and do the work to build progressive majorities in 2018 and 2020.

We worked our hearts out during this election - and we can't let up now. If Tuesday night showed us anything, it's that we need to strengthen our efforts to recruit and train Democratic women to run for office all year long --- not just when a misogynist is up to bat.

My promise to you, is that we are going to flood the pipeline with strong women candidates and the best woman political operatives our country has ever seen-  so that the hardest and highest glass ceiling has no choice but to explode.

We’ve lost a few battles, but we will win the war --- with your help. Join us today by making a contribution and help us to change the face of politics.
